DowDuPont™ agriculture division to become Corteva Agriscience™

9 March 2018

The intended Agriculture company will become Corteva Agriscience™ (kohr-’teh-vah), which is derived from a combination of words meaning ‘heart’ and ‘nature’.

In addition to announcing the corporate name, the intended Agriculture company unveiled the Corteva Agriscience™ brand identity and logo ( at Commodity Classic, the largest farmer-led convention and trade show in the United States.

“It’s a truly exciting time, to be part of the beginning of something new,” said Rob Kaan, ANZ Managing Director, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont. “Corteva Agriscience™ is bringing together three businesses, all of whom have had extensive histories in the Australian and New Zealand markets. Uniting the people, their experience, expertise and passion for agriculture, along with the resources now available with this merger, will allow Corteva Agriscience™ to integrate better with farmers and the broader industry, to find new paths forward for our food and fibre chains.”

Corteva Agriscience™ brings together DuPont Crop Protection, DuPont Pioneer and Dow AgroSciences to create a standalone agriculture company with leading positions in seed technologies and crop protection.

The intended company has developed some of the best talent, technology, innovation and R&D capabilities that will position it to help farmers grow better, abundant and healthier crops while using fewer natural resources.

“We will continue to invest in some of the most recognized and premium brands in agriculture: Pioneer®, as well as our award-winning crop protection products, such as Zorvec Enicade® fungicide, Transform™ insecticide with Isoclast™ active and Paradigm™ herbicide with Arylex™ active, while bringing new products to market through our solid  pipeline of active chemistry and technologies,” Kaan said.

The global corporate headquarters for the intended company will be located in Wilmington, Delaware, and will include key corporate support functions. Sites in Johnston, Iowa, and Indianapolis, Indiana, will serve as Global Business Centers, with leadership of business lines, business support functions, R&D, global supply chain, and sales and marketing capabilities concentrated in the two Midwest locations.

“The formation of this new company allows us to review our country strategies and focus our energy to where our capabilities and resources intersect to best serve our customers.  Aligning our global resources to local issues, and testing new concepts in local areas will always be the core of our approach, to ensure we are meeting the needs of farmers and moving agriculture in a positive direction,” Kaan added.

DowDuPont will support the new brand name through a series of recognition events between now and the time the division becomes an independent company. “This merger is larger and more complex than most other mergers of its kind. It will take some time to cement processes in place for our customers, as well as phase out signage and bring the new name and its branding to the market. We appreciate the ongoing support from our staff and customers in this process and assure you that we are doing our best to minimize any disruption while we move towards the June 2019 spin date,” Kaan said.
