Applications now open for science funding
NZ Horticultural Science Advancement Trust funding is now available to New Zealand Institute of Agricultural & Horticultural Science members (including student members) who are working in horticulture and need financial assistance to develop ideas, attend an international symposia, disseminate information or sustain a project that might advance horticultural science in New Zealand.

DoC's advice to Nelson highlights poor regional biosecurity
Horticulture New Zealand believes this country's ability to control regional biosecurity risk is woeful and there are few signs of any willingness to improve.

Cornell develops sensors that detect plants' water level
Cornell researchers have developed a microfluidic water sensor within a fingertip-sized silicon chip that is a hundred times more sensitive than current devices. The researchers are now completing soil tests and will soon test their design in plants, embedding their "lab on a chip" in the stems of grape vines and other crops.
