The project is a joint initiative between Showgrounds HB, HBRC - Cape to City project and the local community to improve conservation values around the Karamu Stream catchment.
The enthusiasm of the students, teachers and parents was infectious and made for a day of educational fun, and the opportunity to be aware of the importance of caring for and protecting our environment. The students were excited to learn that their humble plantings would grow into a truly magnificent eco-friendly area which would not only improve water quality but which they could in the future proudly lay claim to having created.
General Manager of Showgrounds Hawkes Bay, Brent Linn, commented, “This activity represents yet another classic example of the Showgrounds and the community connecting in a positive manner and supporting our purpose of the Showgrounds being the place where Town and Country meet”.
