The industry body said that it has been almost two decades since any indepth study of this nature has been carried out, and there is now renewed interest in finding out what pests are common in stored grain and in identifying improved methods for controlling them.
In the next few days, growers and companies will receive a letter from FAR, asking them to submit a sample of stored grain for analysis. This can be submitted anonymously or with contact details for a results report.
The closing date for these returns will be 31 August 2015. FAR requests that those invited to participate in this survey, please take the chance to help out. It adds their support will be greatly appreciated and will be the first step in a project aimed at improving the management of storage pest problems.
