The report said that the call comes as the ginger planting season approaches.
A Department of Information statement said the ministry officials were ready to provide support services on seed treatment of ginger to reduce the risks of destructive pests such as nematode and help farmers prepare for export purposes.
Senior Agriculture Officer, (Naitasiri) Adriano Tabualevu, emphasised the importance of seed treatment in ginger for the export market, in particular the pathway to Australia that opened last year.
Fiji’s ginger-planting season normally runs from September to October.
