The recipients were:

• Sir Peter Talijancich (Peter Talley), of Motueka, Knights Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to business and philanthropy;
• Dr Christopher Hale of Auckland, Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to horticultural science and the summerfruit industry;
• Tony Hawken of Whakatane, Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the kiwifruit industry.
