International guest speakers will explore the popular variety as they dissect what has made Sauvignon Blanc one of the most loved white wines in the world.
Tasting and discussion sessions are expected to take attendees on a deep dive journey through the diverse regional styles, and range of winemaking techniques that are used to produce this sought-after wine.
The event line-up will see guests enjoy a Garden Party at historic Timara Lodge, as well as taking a train journey through the Awatere Valley and Sauvignon Blanc country, before hitting the picturesque Kekerungu coast for a Kiwiana beach party.
A Gala Dinner at Brancott Estate will signal the grand finale of celebrations, where guests will experience an unforgettable night. A highlight of the evening will be a choreographed show, featuring award winning costumes and designs from the World of Wearable Arts (WOW).
Celebrating the creativity of wine by adding the WOW factor is going to bring something very special to our International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration, says Chair of the organising committee and Pernod Ricard Chief Winemaker, Patrick Materman. “Wine and WOW are a perfect match. As winemakers we’re constantly creating new expressions of wine to enjoy. WOW harnesses similar creativity when developing their masterpieces.”
Ali Boswijk, WOW’s International Projects Manager agrees there are a lot of synergies between WOW and wine, “WOW is the place where creativity and art collide to produce a totally new experience for consumers – just like a fine wine does,” she says. “We are thrilled to be a part of New Zealand’s very first International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration.”
A limited number of tickets for the Gala Dinner will be available to the public in December. Media and trade are able to purchase registrations for Sauvignon 2016 at www.sauvignon2016.com
