This is a national conference, which brings together 600 careers advisors and teachers. The team will be promoting horticulture as a career opportunity for New Zealand’s young people.
The industry body said that the idea has grown from NZKGI and partners’ participation at last year’s CATE.
HortNZ’s people capability team collaborated with the Horticulture Capability Group to create a fresh new look for horticulture that is expected to get the attention of young people and their influencers by telling the story of the industry and its many opportunities. An easy-to-use trade display, modern collateral and a magazine for teachers and students have been developed with this fresh design in mind.
Industry members are welcome to contact Sue Pickering to utilise these products to promote horticulture careers. This is the starting point of a strong career promotion plan, and in 2016 the group aims to attend more events.
HortNZ asks if growers and/or other industry players know of any local career promotion events that it should know about please contact Pickering.
