To celebrate its success, Seminis has produced a series of four videos to showcase the benefits of SV0215TH along every step of the supply chain.
Monsanto Commercial Lead - Vegetables Australia and New Zealand, Rachel Palumbo, said SV0215TH was launched last year after being bred specifically for Australian conditions. “Because it has been developed especially for the Australian market, SV0215TH has overcome some of the major production and marketing challenges faced by the Australian tomato industry.
“The variety has demonstrated resistance to diseases that have previously devastated tomato crops in the major growing regions of Queensland – Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus and Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus. SV0215TH stays firm for longer and can be picked with much more colour. This means it has a much redder colour and a better shelf life than competing varieties.
“One shelf test suggested variety can last over 25 days after being picked,” she said. “We are proud to have worked alongside industry and used valuable customer feedback to develop a solution that lowers growers’ production risk and reduces marketers’ and retailers’ stock wastage.
“Importantly, SV0215TH is a tasty, attractive product for consumers,” Palumbo added.
