New Zealand-China Research Collaboration Centres
This investment will fund three multi-institution research collaboration centres over five years in the following priority collaboration areas, agreed by the New Zealand and Chinese Governments:
- Water research;
- Food safety and security;
- Non-communicable diseases.
MBIE will fund up to one centre per topic area. Funding of up to $250,000 (GST excl) per year is available for each centre – a total of $3.75 million (GST excl) over five years.
Making an application
The application process consists of two phases:
1. Registration of interest – New Zealand project teams must register their interest with MBIE by providing information on their proposed projects by 12 noon on 14 March 2016.
2. Submission of full proposals – the deadline for full proposals is 12 noon on 18 April 2016.
Note that registration is mandatory. Only applicants who have successfully completed the registration process can submit a full proposal.
More information, including how to register and apply, is available on MBIE's website.
Global Strategic Partnerships
MBIE will now not be seeking proposals for the Global Strategic Partnerships initiative.
MBIE is currently developing an International Science Strategy and this will guide future investments for the Catalyst Fund. It expects to release a call during 2016-17 to support the Strategy. Further notification will be provided on upcoming calls through these alerts.
