New coordinator for APAL’s Pink Lady brand in South America

In recent years, APAL along with Pink Lady Development Ltd (PLD), a joint venture company between APAL and Star Fruits, has been working collectively to develop markets in South America for Pink Lady apples. The recent focus has been in Brazil but there is an opportunity to widen the activity to other territories. APAL has master licensees in Chile and Argentina and directly manages licensing in Brazil. The new role is additional to the licensing activities and will be based in Chile which is the largest production territory in South America.

“Andrés’ priority will be finding ways for our partners to leverage higher value from the sale of Pink Lady apples through development of the commercial brand strategy for the South American region,” says APAL Intellectual Property Manager, Garry Langford. Alamos will also act as a liaison between APAL, PLD and all the parties in the South American territories. 

He started working in the role during July 2016. Prior to this, he acquired experience as an investment and loan officer for LAAD Americas and Rabobank. In addition, Alamos has worked for the last eight years as the General Manager of a Chilean fruit export company directly involved in the Pink Lady business as a licensed exporter. His role included involvement in the marketing of pome fruit and logistics, developing programs for Ahold, ICA, Aldi and Lidl in Europe; and Walmart and H.E.B. in the United States. 

Alamos holds a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics from Universidad Católica de Chile, a LLM degree from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and a joint MBA/MSc degree from University of California, Davis.
