FAR potato agronomics forum, environmental workshop

Running from 8.45 am-12.00 pm, the forum’s topics include:

  • Biosecurity, managing external pest and disease risks – Nick Pyke, FAR;
  • Opportunities to reduce soil-borne diseases – Jen Linton, FAR;
  • TPP this season, what are the options? – Jessica Dohmen-Verejssen and Peter Wright, Plant & Food Research;
  • Future technologies for zebra chip management – Gail Timmerman-Vaughan, Plant & Food Research;
  • Potato impacts on soil quality – Jen Linton, FAR and Stephen Dellow, Plant & Food Research;
  • Precision, Ag: What’s driving variability in potato yield and tuber size? – Alister Holmes, FAR;
  • Plus a regional round up and discussion.

Lunch will follow the workshop, which has been kindly sponsored by Peracto.

The environmental workshop will run from 1.30-4.30 pm and will cover topics such as:

  • A regional overview on environmental management issues;
  • A farmer’s perspective;
  • What we are learning from fluxmeters? – Matt Norris, Plant & Food Research;
  • Soil erosion; What’s happening in the ‘don’t muddy the water’ project – Andrew Barber, Agrilink;
  • Alternative sources of N: legumes vs grass as winter crops – Alister Holmes, FAR.

Participants can register for either or both workshops.  There is no charge for either session.
