Inaugural Australian Flowers Week announced

22 August 2016

The ‘Flowers Week’ concept has been successfully implemented in both the USA and UK, and Australia’s has derived from the work of a grassroots movement within the industry that is aiming to bring the industry and consumers together to celebrate flowers nationally.

Shane Holborn from the Flower Association says, “It’s well and truly time we celebrated flowers nationally” adding that “Australian Flowers Week is designed to celebrate everything we love about flowers, from the beauty and diversity of Australian grown flowers, to the stunning designs by Australia’s floral artisans.”

“The response has been so enthusiastic we think the inaugural week will be a successful one and will set the scene for many more to come where the industry can tell its story to the public and the world”.

There are plenty of activities already listed on the Australian Flowers Week Calendar of Events including Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers; ‘Wild about Waratahs’ festival in the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden and Canberra’s Floriade as well as dozens of other local activities including floral demonstrations, promotions and giveaways as well as special product promotions in florists from Cairns to Perth.

Australian Flowers Week is being supported by all of the industry organisations including the Australian Flower Council; Australian Florist Network; NSW Flower Growers Group; Flower Association of Queensland; Flowers Victoria, WildFlowers Australia; Wildflower Industry Network as well as dozens of private companies that have been involved in the planning discussions.
