The proposed changes are part of the Government-wide strategy to improve overall workplace health and safety. More information is available here.
The changes will be outlined in four consultation papers and will cover:
- Classification, labelling, safety data sheets and packaging for hazardous substances;
- Forms and information in hazardous substance applications;
- Import certificates for explosives;
- Hazardous property controls (to be released at a later date after the three documents above).
EPA says it will notify interested parties when submissions open. At this stage, it plans that the first three documents will be released the week beginning 19 September.
