The week was launched at the Flower Ball in Sydney by the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Senator Anne Ruston (who also owns Ruston’s Roses in South Australia).
Australian Flowers Week is being supported by all of Australia’s industry organisations as well as dozens of private companies around the country that have committed to celebrating the week in their businesses. The event is being supported by a long list of events such as Floriade, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and the Wild about Waratahs Festival to name just a few.
The response has been so enthusiastic that the organisers think the inaugural week will be successful and set the scene for many more to come where the industry can tell its story to the public and the world.
Future events will be held each spring, with this year’s Australian Flowers Week having started Saturday and running until 25 September 2016.
