It advises that growers in that area should check crops carefully for velvetleaf seedlings and if you see any, follow the steps laid out on the Waikato Regional Council website or phone them on 0800 800 401.

FAR also asks growers outside Waikato to also keep an eye out for germinating velvetleaf plants, and if any are suspected call the MPI Biosecurity hotline on 0800 80 99 66.
