The varieties include bhindi, long bean and tubua.
BAF Executive Chairman, Xavier Khan, says the temporary suspension was lifted after the Ministry of Agriculture Extension and Research team conducted a field survey report on pests, ‘Thrips palmi’, last month.
Khan says this revealed the low level of ‘Thrips palmi' host commodities on tubua and bhindi. He added that the Ministry has taken necessary actions to ensure that interceptions of ‘Thrips palmi' at international borders are reduced.
Meanwhile, 'Thrips palmi' is a regulated pest in New Zealand and considered a high impact pest which, if established, could lead to high levels of negative economic consequences.
