Consumer revolution ignites in Dubbo

2 November 2016

With the tag line, ‘Eat It, Wear It, Regenerate It’, the conference is scheduled to open with a video address by former Governor-General of Australia, and current chair of Soils For Life, Major-General The Honourable Michael Jeffery, AC, AO (Mil), CVO, MC (Rtd).

The delegates – Holistic Management practitioners, graziers, farmers, land managers, land carers and consumers who care about how food is produced – will be looking forward to an outstanding line up of speakers including:

  • 2016 Rural Woman of the Year, Sophie Hansen and Tim Hansen, of Mandagery Creek Venison;
  • Landscape designer and regeneration advocate, Tig Crowley;
  • Perennial native shrub grazing pioneer, Andrew Sippel;
  • Free-range pig producer Michael Hicks;
  • General practitioner and science writer Carole Hungerford;
  • New Zealand grazier, abalone farmer and kelp harvester, Roger Beattie;
  • Cattle producer, NSW DPI Business & Social Resilience program leader and 2015 Rural Woman of the Year, Pip Job;
  • ‘The Conscious Farmer’ Derek Blomfield, joint 2014 NSW Farmer of the Year with wife, Kirrily;
  • Early adopter of Holistic Management principles, third-generation grazier, Tim Wright.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Savory Institute’s Consumer Revolution Conference and will feature video linkups with the Savory Institute in Boulder, Colorado.

Conference convenor and co-principal of NSW Savory Network HUB candidate Hooves 4 Humus, Ian Chapman, said, “the variety of topics and speakers has given the program an exciting mix. I can promise the day will provide profound insight into the importance of knowing where our food and fibre comes from and how we can sustain and regenerate Australia’s soils and ecosystem processes.”
