Tendertips Asparagus showed the hard work going on in the packhouse and Woodhaven Gardens had tastings, tractor rides and cultural performances by staff.
It was said to have been a fantastic day out and a great initiative to show people both where their food comes from and the value of local growers in their community.
Massey University students Marnie Prickett, Jess Northcott and Sarah O'Neill, along with lecturer Svelta Sofkova, represented Horticulture New Zealand by talking about careers in horticulture and handing out its careers guide at Tendertips and Woodhaven.
