Grower News

In the first eight months of 2016 alone, the total exports of fresh cut flowers have generated revenue of USD $246,729 million, about 68% of which was contributed by phalaenopsis. It is little wonder that Taiwan is considered to be the kingdom of phalaenopsis.

Every year, the exports of phalaenopsis make up of over 50% of Taiwan’s total flower exports. In addition, the gross value of flower exports in the first eight months of 2016 have exceeded the annual exports of 2015 by USD $53,109 million, which is the result of Taiwan’s floriculture industry vigorously expanding its export market.

Taiwan Floriculture Exports Association (TFEA) says it is eager to attend the 2017 China International Floriculture & Horticulture Trade Fair (Flower Expo China 2017). It has been reported that in recent years, China Mainland’s flower imports has been on a rapid rise. According to China Mainland’s customs statistics, the annual floriculture imports in 2015 totaled USD $214 million, up 15.6% compared with 2014, due to the domestic market demand for flowers of high quality and new varieties.
