In any celebration, such as a business opening, wedding ceremony, friend’s visit, and other important life events, flowers are now a necessity; they are indispensable in Guangzhou’s cultural traditions.

The city is well known for its annual flower fair, held during the Spring Festival. It’s a special flower market held annually for citizens to appreciate and buy some flowers and daily use. The event uniquely represents the traditional custom of Lingnan region in Spring Festival. The Flower Fair has developed its own flower language, in accord with the local language.

The annual Guangzhou Flower market can be found at the ten major flower markets of Guangzhou, including Yuexiu District, Liwan District, Haizhu District, etc. On the eve of the Spring Festival, the streets are decorated with fragrant and beautiful fresh flowers, golden tangerines, and elegant miniature landscapes, looking like rivers of flowers in the distance.
