Keynote speakers confirmed, at this stage, include:
- Frans van Dorsser, who will provide participants with the latest flower import statistics;
- Blackburn and Croft will discuss opportunities to take an anti-countervailing case against imported flowers from India;
- Keith Funnell, Programme Leader for Breeding Technology Development (including Ornamentals Sector), Plant and Food on the topic: Postharvest performance: keeping distant customers satisfied;
- Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) Video Conference Presentation will explain developments in: Import Health Standard Development for cut flowers; the GIA and implications for the flower industry; and the Investigation Process into illegal imports of plant material into New Zealand and penalties;
- Helen Gear (Plant Market Access Committee – PMAC) will explain the work of PMAC and how the New Zealand Flower Industry benefits from its financial support of this organisation;
- Mike Arnold, Horticulture New Zealand: The New Zealand Flower Industry is an Associate member of Horticulture New Zealand.
In addition, there will be a tour of K&L Nurseries the morning of 18 October and a visit to Christchurch’s Red Zone to see how the city’s rebuild is progressing.
