Association services get approval from industry
The membership services provided by the New Zealand Flower Growers’ Association have been given the seal of approval by industry, according to recent survey findings.
Survey respondents rated as ‘most valued’ the advocacy work the Association undertakes with government in order to influence policy to benefit industry members.
“It’s very pleasing to see that our work is rated so highly by flower growers,” says Association president, Daniel Schuurman.
“It shows that what we’re doing is hitting the mark and is valued by industry.”
The Association ran the survey among members and non-members in March this year. It received nearly
70 responses.
As well as government advocacy, respondents also rated highly the Association’s work to educate members about the impacts on them of government legislation.
And they valued the member benefits scheme that gives Flower Growers’ Association members discounted products and services from a range of suppliers.
Daniel says that the survey is a strategic tool that will ensure the Association continues to deliver value to members.
“The NZFGA wants to remain relevant and valuable to members. We need to regularly review the services that we offer to ensure that they are what our members want,” he says.
“Advocacy and educating members about legislation are high priorities of ours."
“We are extremely happy that our priorities are in line with what our members believe should take precedence.”
Daniel says awareness of the member benefits scheme rated lower than expected, and this is something the Association will work on.
“According to the survey, not as many members are aware of the benefits scheme as we would like. Awareness of the scheme will be something we prioritise in our work plan. The beauty of the survey is that it brings to our attention what we are doing well and what we need to work on."
“Knowing our weaknesses ensures we can work to mitigate them, to create a stronger Association and one that is more relevant and valuable to our members.”
