AGMARDT Funding for Hydrangea Fungus Research

The Hydrangea Flower Growers Group have been successful in an application to AGMARDT for funding to conduct a three year research project to look at fungal pathogens adversely affecting their crop including ‘in transit’ issues affecting exporting potential of Hydrangeas. The research will be conducted in association with an Exporter and with support from Plant and Food Research, Palmerston North

The Hydrangea project is part of a wider assessment of Fungal Disease in Cut Flower Production. The Hydrangea Flower Growers Group has extended an invitation to all Cut Flower Growers interested in this area to come forward if interested in providing data on other cut flower categories.

The Hydrangea project currently has 6 data capture stations set up in the Bay of Plenty area.

Cut Flower Growers interested in this project should contact in the first instance:

Annabel Wright at [email protected]

Or Deb Thorpe at [email protected]

If you know of Flower Exporters with a potential interest please forward this information to assist the Research Project to get underway.
