Budget conscious brides-to-be are searching for affordable and eco-friendly wedding flowers
In the United States the summer wedding season of 2012 has shown up a new trend for flowers.
Statistics show consumers are trending green – as in ‘eco-friendly’ green. Sales of eco friendly wedding flowers have increased for 2012 as brides-to-be are watchful not only of their bank accounts, but the environment too.
United States growers report brides-to-be are taking into account the conditions under which their wedding flowers are grown. And they are taking close notice of special deals and discounts too.
In the US there are many classifications of eco-standards throughout the flower industry. International certifications such as the VeriFlora certification have become the benchmark for the eco-friendly objective. Flower farms which have VeriFlora certification claim they are dedicated to environmental sustainability, social and economic sustainability, as well as product integrity.
The New Zealand Flower Growers Association says it is worth noting the American trend and being aware that the a similar increased demand for ‘eco-friendly’ flowers will also happen here.
