CUT FLOWER

British Flowers Week promotes UK flowers, foliage

10 June 2015

This year British Flowers Week has a new home at britishflowersweek.com. The new website showcases all of the events, activities, images, stories, competitions, florists and designs (to be revealed during British Flowers Week) of this year's campaign. Britishflowersweek.com will be the online hub for information, images and downloads for the 'Florists' (the industry professionals), and the 'Flower Lovers' (the consumer), and the 'Media' alike.

Now in its third year, British Flowers Week is the national celebration of seasonal, locally-grown flowers and foliage that is uniting the UK cut flower industry and sparking public and media interest in where their flowers come from. Last year, the hashtag #BritishFlowersWeek achieved a staggering Twitter reach of 1.5 million with florists, growers and the media posting British flowers content online, on social media, in print and on the radio.

For 2015, the organisers are calling upon even more independent florists and growers across the country to get behind the campaign. A florists' toolkit is available for growers and florists on the website with ten ideas and resources to help florists everywhere make the most of British Flowers Week. There are also downloadable materials and exciting opportunities to feature on the website.

The plan is to make British Flowers Week as inclusive and interactive as possible, and to benefit the British cut flower industry, as a whole.
