The main issues discussed at the meeting included:
- Update on the various plants market access issues;
- Discussions about the further developments for e-cert, including the international exchange of phytosanitary certificates;
- An extension of the Asia MRL (Maximum Residue Limits) project which collects information on MRL-setting and residue enforcement practices in developing markets in Asia to cover India;
- Acceptance of the project plan for work aimed at developing protocols with key markets to be used to maintain market access should fruit fly arrive in New Zealand.
PMAC is a partnership between industry and government (primarily MPI and MFAT) focused on increasing economic returns to New Zealand though sustainable and profitable market access for plant products.
