Lincoln University Foundation Chairman, Ben Todhunter, says the informative programme planned for the field day should have practical relevance for other producers across the primary industries. “This field day is not just about wine making, it’s about the clever thinking, entrepreneurship, business strategies and people management that have gone into this business.”
Todhunter says that Yealands justifiably won the ‘Famer of the Year’ title for the way they had looked at all aspects of their business, often finding better and more environmentally sustainable ways to do them.
“Whether someone is growing crops, wool or meat or producing milk there will be learning opportunities of real value to their business at this field day. We encourage all farmers and people from allied primary industries to attend.”
Pre-registration is not required, and growers are invited to turn up on the day. To assist with catering, attendees should let the organisers know how many are coming.
