"The idea of overseas trips for the purpose of knowledge-sharing, as a member benefit, was brought up in the general discussion at the AGM," said NZFGA Executive member Ian Kempthorne.

Floramax Sale Muted
BayWa Aktiengesellschaft, the German company that now controls Turners & Growers has expressed an interest in selling the Floramax flower auction side of the business. NZFGA President, Daniel Schuurman, says the NZFGA have been consulting with members to find out what growers would like to see happen with Floramax.

Progress made in Wellington Discussions
Last month's NZFGA press release about bio security attracted significant media attention, and resulted in meetings with influential policy makers in Wellington. Daniel Schuurman says he hopes the NZFGA can now move forward as an industry, contributing significantly to improving bio security by closer liaison with policy makers.

Flower Growers Urged to Join NZFGA
At the recent AGM a comparison was drawn between the Flower Growers Sector of Horticulture and other sectors such as the National Beekeepers Association. Underlying industry success is the vital requirement ot lobby on issues such as GIA and ETS. The Association has 100 grower members but more are needed.
