Proposed Rose Import Health Standard Amendments

MPI consultation on proposed changes to phytosanitary measures when importing Rosa nursery stock from approved countries has now closed (submissions were due by 27th June 2016) Late submissions will now be held for further consideration in the future.

The risk management proposal describes the proposed changes in detail along with the technical justification for these changes.

A brief summary follows of some of the main changes proposed for the standard.

  • justification of measures for Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris, mali, and aurantifolia
  • propose measures for Candidatus Phytoplasma prunorum, and rubi
  • propose measures for 3 viruses newly identified as being associated with Rosa nursery stock (Blackberry chlorotic ringspot virus, Raspberry ringspot virus and Rose rosette virus)
  • prescribe alternative fungicide measures.
